HANEKE
Ohhhh Michael Haneke. His films are disturbing and beautiful.  I adore his themes of control & lack of control. If you are a fan of horror or the confusing depravity of humans, you must see his work. So far, my favorites: original Funny Games, Benny's Video, & The Piano Teacher.

Here's my Paul from Funny Games:

Thanks to amazing, talented, & beautiful Akiko  for introducing me to Haneke's work!!1

WORDZ

I'm one of those awful people who barely grasp the human language. So, I cling to quotes that explain my stupid little human feelings. Here are a few I've collected, maybe they will resonate in your bones too!

“Painting is showing up and dealing with sucking.”
“People will get on me and tell me that I need to relax and take it easy, that I’m not really that bad.  What they are missing is the arrogance of what I am saying, the fact that I know I suck proves that I know I am better than this, which is a very arrogant thing to do, so people should not be concerned with my self esteem.  When I say I suck, it actually means that this is not a representation of my ability, I know that inside me is better.  Dealing with my sucking and proudly saying this sucks is how I get up and do it again.  I can’t let that thing get out there, I have to apologize for it with my next piece.”
Doc Hammer
“Don’t bend; don’t water it down; don’t try to make it logical; don’t edit your own soul according to fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.”
Franz Kafka
"A greeting to you, gifted one, you who want to attain sincerity in your work. You are a stranger to your time, but do not loose heart! I know Art feels unpleasant to you; you have become a slave beneath an aristocracy of incompetents. Art was never meant for people like you.
Art har its justification - the untalented need comfort - but so do you. You have been ashamed of your ability too long. So long as the skillful craftsman can only aspire to defeat, a great injustice is done. Know this: without you as a subjugated guarantor, the incompetence of Art becomes worthless. The money and honour obtained by artists rightfully belong to you, so take them back! Put an end to the humiliation, withdraw from Art and let it complete its fall into worthlessness.
The 19th century was the twilight of talent; take part in its dawn.
Through Kitsch the talented one can save himself. It is a new discipline in which skill finds a superstructure. A superstructure serving the genius of ability.
Do not allow Art to retain its moral authority over ability."
"Comparison is the thief of joy."Theodore Roosevelt
"Creativity Comes From Blending Dissonant Goals Into Radical Harmony" Fabio Sergio
"The more you love your decisions, the less you need others to love them."Merlin Mann
"Make stuff that is pretty, realistic, and easy to understand"Jillian Tamaki
"My best advice? Be passionate, work hard, believe in your good ideas" Martha Stewart
"Inside every cynical person, there is a disappointed idealist." George Carlin
"A bore is someone who deprives you of solitude without providing you with company." —Oscar Wilde
"There is more wisdom in your body than in your deepest philosophy." Nietzsche
